FAQ
How old does a student have to be to start their riding journey?
Children must be at least 6 years old to start in our program. However, horsemanship lessons are encouraged as early as age 5.
What is proper lesson attire?
Students are required to wear paddock boots, or shoes with a heel to their Intro lesson. Tidy shirts, tucked into their breeches with a belt. Hair should be neat and tied back into a low pony tail or braid. An ASTM/SEI approved helmet may be provided for the Intro lesson but committed riders are required to purchase all essential gear that is listed in the welcome packet.
What disciplines are offered?
Our discipline is English riding, with a focus in hunter, jumper, and equitation.
Do I need my own horse?
We believe exceptional mounts produce both knowledgeable and successful riders. Our barn currently has candidates for lessons, leasing, and showing. Leasing is a great introduction to owning a horse. We can also assist students in finding the perfect match, based on their goals and budget.
What are the requirements and expectations for the show team?
Students looking to be apart of the show team are required to lesson a minimum of twice a week. Students must have all required show gear. We can provide you with a check list, as needed. The Joyeux show team is expected to model exemplary teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility and knowledge, as you are representing our program.
